Calendar Information

All WB/CB/CG members must attend all practices. ... CG spring practice and audition schedule, see newsbriefs. Morning practices for everyone resumed April 14 (MWF) and have just 2 more weeks left plus Mon 5/12. (Guard members will be removed from team for 3 unexcused absences or excessive total absences and/or tardies from practices, Band members will have grades lowered and/or be removed from Knotts trip)

All WB/CB/CG members must attend all competitions, parades, and other events. No unexcused absences are allowed. “Going out of town” is NOT an excused absence.

2007-08 Dates are:

• Sat 9/22 CG only perform at KC Fair ... DONE!!!
• Sat 10/27 Garces Competition for WMB&CG ... DONE!!
• Sat 11/3 West High Competition ... DONE!!!
• Sat 11/10 (date changed 9/6) ( starts 10 AM) Veteran’s Day parade .... DONE!!!
• Sat 11/17 Centennial Comp for WMB&CG ... DONE!!!
• Sat 12/1Pancakes and Pops Concert (all band and beginning band and CG) .... DONE!
• Sat 12/8 NOR Christmas Parade for WMB&CG .... DONE !!
• Honor Band ...DONE!
• Sat 2/23/08 KC OLF snack bar @SMS ....DONE!!!
• ThFri 4/10 and 11 CMEA Festival at Stockdale HS (WB will perform on 4/11@ 11:30am) ...DONE!
• MONDAY 4/14...morning practices resumed  MWF and now have 2 more weeks plus Mon 5/12...7:25am
• Thursday May 1 SMS Open House (WMB&CG perform 6pm)
• Tuesday May 6, Open Bandroom 5:30-7:30pm
• Wed May 7, WB performs for 5th grade orientation
  
• Thursday 5/8 Spring Concert 7pm (all band and beginning band and CG)
• Tues 5/13  Knotts (perform 1:30pm) (WMB&CG)
• Wed 5/14 WB practice after school until 2pm to prepare for Fresno. (minimum day)
• Thursday 5/15 NEW! WB to Fresno State Band Festival (perform 6:30pm)
• Thursday May 29, KinderGrad (time TBA)
  

 

PLEASE REMEMBER

• Guard members must agree to participate in guard for the entire fall season plus spring practices and trip to Knotts Berry Farm.Band members must stay in the class for the entire year!
• We need members with good attitudes who cooperate with instructors and teammates. Poor attitudes and lack of cooperation will lower band grades and result in dismissal from the guard.
• SMS requires guard members to maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA

 

Note #1: because of the time commitments listed above, CG members can’t be on the VB team.BB is OK!

Note #2: All band/guard members are expected to help with fundraising projects. Adult help will often be needed as well.
