SMS Beginning Band Calendar 2008-2009 (Updated and corrected 9/6/08)

Students should bring instruments to the band room in the morning on every day that they have band. They must show up in class every band day their Yamaha Advantage book and their instruments

IMPORTANT DATES

PANCAKES and POPS CONCERT: Sat 12/6 ... Fund raiser and 1st public performance for beginners (REQUIRED ATTENDANCE)

SPRING CONCERT: Thursday 5/7/2009, 7pm SMS auditorium (REQUIRED ATTENDANCE)

6th Grade Beginning Band Schedule

6th graders will have band every other day, so each week will be either MWF OR TuTh. For example, woodwinds(WW) will have class on MWF the first week, so week #2 will be TuTh. You will be able to use the schedule below to keep track.

WW = Saxophones, Flutes, and Clarinet B&P = All Brass instruments plus Percussion

NOTE on MINIMUM DAYS: On mini days due to inservice OR parent conferences, students should plan on bringing instruments

11/10 to 11/14* WW- WF, B&P Monday and Thursday (Tuesday 11/11 is Veterans Day Holiday)
11/17 to 11/21 WW- TuTh, B&P- MWF
11/24 to 11/28 WW- MW, B&P- Tu (Wed 11/26 is mini day and Th/Fri are thanksgiving Holidays)
12/1 to 12/5 WW- TuTh, B&P MWF (Sat 12/6 is Pancakes and Pops...attendance required)
12/8 to 12/12 WW- MWF, B&P- TuTh
12/15 to 12/19 WW- TuTh, B&P- MWF (Fri 12/19 is mini day for winter break ... Fri 12/19 is END of SECOND QUARTER)
