BTS Night

SMS Back-to School Night is Tuesday 9/7/10, 6:30pm until 8pm. To help draw a crowd, as well as make a little money, the Music Boosters will be having a hamburger/hot dog BBQ serving 5-6:30pm. The Warrior Marching Band and CG will perform at 5:30pm. Parents, please click here to see how you can help.

WB and CG will need to wear red shirts that night. Official band/guard "flames" shirts are now on sale (see below). Flames shirts, the centennial shirt, or any red shirt will be acceptable for this event. For all future events, all WMB&CG members must have a FLAMES shirt.

Drum Majors

The Standard Warrior Band is known for having great drum majors. For 2010-11, our two eighth grade DM's will be Lizzy F and Shelby R. Our seventh grade assistant DM will be Faith G. They just finished FOUR days of camp August 3-6 in very hot Bakersfield weather! They worked very hard during camp and even showed up extra early each day to assist Mr W with set-up. The hard work paid off with several top awards at the Camp Closing Ceremonies.

* Lizzy and Faith placed first and Faith placed third in the Final Drilldown

* Lizzy and Shelby both received "distinguished" ribbons for marching/beating of time, placing them in the top six at camp. Lizzy went on to receive a "most distinguished" ribbon and competed in the final 3.

* Lizzy received a camp spirit award for participation and enthusiasm.

* Only two Superior Plaques (highest camp award) were given at this Camp, and they went to .... LIZZY and SHELBY!!!!

There were 21 DM's at this camp, including 4 HS DM's. MS/JH DM's were from all over Bakersfield plus Wasco, Shafter, and Taft.

This is the last stanza of a poem originally written 3/29/05 for the 2004-05 Warrior Band. (Note: 20004-05 was the last WB to NOT receive a superior rating before our current streak began. I think this little section expresses our hopes for this year very well......
