Trip information is for WB/CB/CG and does NOT apply to beginning band! Continue on in band and you will get to go in the future!

KNOTTS 5/13/08

Warrior Band/Concert Band/Color Guard

Be Here: 6:30am .... LOAD 6:45am .... DEPART 7:00am (transportation is Orange Belt Bus)

The only stop on way down will be Tejon Rest Area...Potty Only

( YOU MUST BE WEARING YOUR BAND SHIRT IN ORDER TO BOARD THE BUS)

BRING

Uniform, Uniform Bag, official hanger, gloves, band black sox, guard 2 pairs nude sheer-to-waist panty hose
band members need to bring an extra tshirt for wearing under the uniform during performance
band instruments
beach towel (if you plan on getting wet)
spending money for meals and souvenirs ($20?) (Parents, please do not allow students to bring large amounts of cash)

DO NOT BRING ANYTHING NOT ALLOWED AT SCHOOL (Including electronic music, toy, game devices)

FOOD

School Breakfast will be provided free of charge. Water and snacks will be available before and after performance. Students will need to buy or bring lunch. Park food is not cheap! Hamburger-fries-drink is $7-10!!!!.

IMPORTANT!!! Since our performance is early afternoon, it is very important that everyone eat breakfast and lunch and drink water BEFORE our performance. If you do not do so, you run the real risk of illness, overheating, and/or dehydration!!!

NOTE to those driving down: You must park in main parking lot and enter thru the main front gate. Please arrange in advance a meeting place and time with your student if you wish to meet with them. Knotts does offer a discount ticket price for "supporters" at the Group Sales/Guest Relations window at the front gate. Tell them you are with agroup performing that day and the price is $24.99 adults, $17.99 child 11 and under.

ARRIVE KNOTTS: 10am, students released into park from Western ave Gate WEARING BAND SHIRTS AT ALL TIMES.

RETURN TO BUS: 12:15pm (students and chaperons ONLY please) change into uniforms and prepare for performance.

PERFORMANCE: 1:30PM at Calico Square

BACK at BUS(students and chaperons ONLY please): approx 2:15, change out of uniform and return to park (WEARING BAND SHIRTS)) as soon as you are ready..most students should be back in park by 2:45pm

FINAL RETURN TO BUS 5:55pm, bus leaves 6pm (DO NOT TRY to get on a ride after 5:30pm!!!!)(DO NOT WAIT until it is time to leave to decide you are hungry/thirsty)(DO NOT DRINK a huge soda just before getting on the bus ...it is TWO HOURS from KNOTTS to the Rest Area Potty Stop!)

RETURN TO SMS 9pm

Sorry, but all students MUST ride the bus to and from KNOTTS.

Note to parents: Warrior Band will be practicing for the Fresno State Festival on Wed 5/14 12:30pm to 2pm (school dismissed 12:20 that day).

FRESNO STATE 5/15/08

Warrior Band performs/ CB gets to go along and watch and listen (SORRY, no CG this trip!)

We will be wearing Concert Black for this event, just like for CMEA. Concert band members have the option of concert black OR wearing band shirts. You may wear it to school that morning OR wear regular clothes and change at 10:45am. HOWEVER, you will not bring reg. clothes with us on the trip. There will be no time allowed for changing after the performance, plus space could be crowded on the bus. NO BACK PACKS. Do not bring anything that is not allowed at school.

Report to band room and change 10:45am

Cafeteria lunch 11:25am (or bring your own lunch)

Load Bus 11:50am ..... Depart NOON (transportation is by chartered SCHOOL BUS, plus a UHAUL truck for large instruments)

Potty Stop Tulare Rest Area approx 1-1:25pm

Arrive Fresno State approx 2:45pm

NOTE for FRIENDS and FAMILY: Festival Location is the Fresno State University "new" music building, near the corner of Shaw and Maple avenues. Campus entrance is Maple Ave. The music bldg will be 2nd on your left after your turn onto Campus on Maple ave. Parking Lots will be to your right. The part of our performance that is open to the public is in the Concert Hall inside the music building. General Admission is $5, seniors $4. I believe that there will be a charge for parking on campus as well. Festival Info, schedule and campus map can be found here

We have to unload buses in an area a couple minute away from music bldg. Buses then have to go to a distant parking lot and wait until we are ready to leave. SO DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING ON THE BUS THAT YOU WILL NEED WHILE WE ARE AT FRESNO STATE.

LISTENING: we are required to listen to 2 other groups (although we have permission to do just one if time does not allow us to do 2). If we arrive in time, we will listen to Lewis MS (Paso Robles) at 3pm. If not, we will take a short walking tour of campus and then return and listen to Sierra Vista JH (Baldwin Park) at 4pm. (There is no group scheduled at 3:30pm)

DINNER: 4:30-5:30 in the Student Union, which is just minutes away from music bldg. You will have a choice of Subway, Chick Fillet, Panda Express, or Union Snack Bar (smoothies, frito boats, nachos, etc). There are also games available. $10 should be plenty for dinner (or bring a lunch)

5:30pm ...report to truck to get large instruments, and also take care of last minute potty, hair at the appropriate location
6:00pm ... report to Warm Up Room (no friends and family)
6:30pm ... Festival Performance in the Concert Hall (seating is first come-first served)
7:00pm ... Judges Clinic in another room (no friends and family)
7:30pm ... head for bus, load and leave hopefully by 7:50pm

We will not be stopping to eat on the way home. We will only make a quick potty stop. Make sure you eat while we are at the Student Union. We will have water and snacks available QUICKLY while we are loading and before we leave Fresno State

10:45pm, return to SMS

For this trip, students may choose to ride home from Fresno with parents, or friends/family. A signed note from parent/guardian will be required if student is to be released to anyone other than parent
