Marching Season in Review

Ridgeview??    Here is a link to our performance on YouTube

Stockdale and Centennial??  Have  you seen the pictures available at www.powerphotoonline.com ?

CENTENNIAL CONGRATULATIONS to the WMB&CG!!!  They pulled off an end-of-the-year major victory with a NEAR-SWEEP of the awards at Centennial, winning all but one of the 5 top awards!  ALSO…just realised, it was a double 5-peat and a six-peat!!!  (See Competition Results if you want to know what this means)

NOR Christmas Parade…… WMB&CG battled absences, illnesses, and suspensions the week before while trying to prepare for the event.  BUT it all came out OK in the end.  Lots of comments from parents and friends about how well we did!!  It was FUN leading with nobody in front to slow us down!!!!  Just one thing to improve on…. parents and students MUST do better on communicating with each other on where to meet after the parade.  Once we dismiss the band, the director has no ability to know where students go or where they are supposed to go to meet friends and family!

MORNING PRACTICES    NO MORE until April when we start getting ready for KNOTTS

SHOUT OUTS!

WB  Drummers finished the season on a very high note (no pun intended).  In winning the percussion comp at Centennial, they broke a SMS streak that we did NOT want to keep alive.  It had been a little over 3 years since SMS had on the top percussion award at a marching competition.  But this year’s drummers finally did it!!!  Congrats!!!!!

Creations
This is the last stanza of a poem originally written 3/29/05 for the 2004-05 Warrior Band. (Note: 2004-05 was the last WB to NOT receive a superior rating before our current SUPERIOR streak began. I think this little section expresses our hopes for this year very well……

Warrior Band ….
never bland
sometimes grand
will they do the best they can?
hope so…..
it’s in their hands

A Song adapted and borrowed from one I heard at 2010 DM camp.  It was popular with the 2010-2011 Warrior Marching Band, especially on Mondays!  (to the tune of “If you’re happy and you know it”)

I’m alive, awake, alert, enthusiastic!
Marching in the morning is FANTASTIC!
I’m alive, awake, alert … alert, awake, alive
I’m alive, awake, alert, enthusiastic!
